Shabbat Rosh HaShanah
24 Elul 5786 (September 6, 2026)

The final week of Elul asks us to slow down and practice Cheshbon HaNefesh—an honest accounting of the soul—before the gates of the new year open. The ultimate goal of this reflection is Teshuvah, which means "return": it is not about reinventing yourself, but peeling back the year's noise to return to your truest self. Entering Rosh HaShanah on Friday night beautifully weaves together two energies—the sacred rest of Shabbat with the vibrant renewal of the Jewish New Year. As the festival lights meet the Shabbat candles, release past stumbles and step across the threshold, ready to write a sweeter, more peaceful chapter ahead.

Shavua Tov veShanah Tovah,

Selichot
Recited daily throughout the month of Elul (excluding Shabbat), Selichot serves as a cosmic channel to bind our souls directly to the Ohr Ein Sof (Infinite Light) through the elevated consciousness of selichah (forgiveness). During these prayers, we fearlessly face the spiritual blockages (kelipot) created by past mistakes, stripping them away to prepare our vessels for the intense light of Rosh HaShanah, the Ten Days of Awe/Teshuvah, and Yom Kippur. We invite you to join us for Selichot each night, Mondays-Fridays during Elul @ 12:40 AM EDT (In some time zones this will be Sunday-Thursday nights). Click Here for the Selichot portion of our K4A Siddur.

Tzedakah
The word צדקה "tzedakah" in Hebrew often is translated as charity, but it actually comes from the root צדק "tzedek" which means righteousness. The addition of the letter ה "Hei" connects righteousness to Malchut. Many people say "giving" tzedakah, but the more appropriate phrase is "doing" tzedakah. Tzedakah is in many ways an exchange of energy and is a visible expression of gratitude in this world for that which we have received, especially when we receive it from an organization that helps us to grow spiritually. We thank you in advance for your generosity and support. Click Here to make an online donation. Visit our DONATE page in order to donate using other methods.

Your Hebrew Name
At the end of the Amidah, we whisper a verse from the Tanach which is associated with our Hebrew name. Would you like to know your Hebrew name and the verse that corresponds to your name? Or would you like us to help you choose a Hebrew name and even have a certificate with your Hebrew name and verse? Email Us for more information.
