This week we celebrate Purim Katan. Katan means small. This
Purim is considered a small Purim because it occurs in Adar Rishon. Next
month, Adar Sheini, we will celebrate the actual Purim with the reading
of the M'gilah. Even though this week's Purim is small, the
Kabbalists tell us that in a nineteen year cycle we only get seven
of these and that we should treat Purim Katan as a special guest. So
this Wednesday, do something special to celebrate the joy of Purim
and the joy of this month. Remember that the more joy we can
infuse into our lives during this time, the more we will have in
the whole year.
