Week of 01/13/08
6 Shevat 5768

The month of Shevat is about inner renewal.  Remember that it is a good time to start new things.  However, things that we start now may not be fully manifested as we would like them to be.  It is important to go with the flow.  This week's Torah portion reminds us of this.  Moses and the Israelites reach the Red Sea with no where else to turn.  They had to open up their minds and hearts and seek within them the power of the Creator.  They had to raise their consciousness and transcend their ego.  Through their inner renewal they were able to part the sea and escape from Pharoah's army.  We all face Red Seas and Pharoahs in our lives, the biggest of all being our ego nature.  The energy of Shevat lends a helping hand toward our inner renewal.  Isn't it time we parted the Red Sea and escaped from Pharoah's clutches once and for all?

Change In Translation
We now offer a convenient way to study Torah through our Sacred Texts section.  We prepare the Torah portion each week and have tried to make it inclusive.  The word Ad-nai is translated as Hashem, which simply means "the Name".  Previously, we were using Eternal One for the word for "G-d".  Now we will be not changing that word at all, it will simply be left in its Hebrew version "Elohim".  Eventually we will update all of the previous portions we have put in the archive.
