This is the last week of the bitter month, the month without any
holidays. It has been a challenge to connect to the Light. There
have been distractions and the ego seems to have been working overtime.
As we began our Kabbalat Shabbat connection on Friday, I became aware
of how the ego distorts our perception of reality. Not that I wasn't
aware before, but this was surreal. How it gets the best of us and
prevents us from transforming. How it convinces us, though, and how
it plays with our feelings to make us think what we see and how we
act is real. This line from a song has been my mantra this week:
"Nothing's real until
you
let
go completely."
When
we let go of ego, we are able to see reality.
