As I write this, it is raining. This week we enter a new month,
the month of Mar Cheshvan. Mar Cheshvan is also known as the
month of water. It was during this month that the flood in
Noah's day began and ended. Kabbalah says that the energy of
water is the same as that of Chesed, which is mercy and sharing. We
enter a month void of any holidays, this is significant in two ways. The
first is that since we have begun the new year with examining and
amending our past, we now must begin the work of our transformation. The
second is that Kabbalah teaches that this month is reserved for the
time of Mashiach and the building of the third Temple. As we
begin a new month and focus on our transformation, it is important
to connect to and meditate on water. May it purify us and teach
us to share unconditionally.
